Most
of us would like to look younger, but we do not have the time
or the inclination to have cosmetic surgery for our wrinkles.
Some wrinkles are the result of overactive muscles. In recent
years however, BOTOX® Cosmetic cosmetic offers dramatic changes without
surgery or long recovery periods, has gained popularity. BOTOX® Cosmetic (a controlled toxin) is a paralyzing agent injected
directly into the muscles to reduce muscle activity. Common
places to inject include the horizontal forehead furrows, vertical
lines between the eyebrows and "crow's feet" around
the eyes. BOTOX® Cosmetic is temporary (3-4 months). It is an office-based
procedure that does not require anesthesia and has little to
no downtime. If you are tired of the way wrinkles make you feel
and look, it may be time to consider BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment. At Eye
Associates, we will personally assess your cosmetic needs and
determine the right course of treatment for you

Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment:
BOTOX® Cosmetic
has been used successfully since the early 1990s to treat wrinkles
and lines caused by the contraction of underlying facial muscles.
By relaxing these muscles, BOTOX® Cosmetic helps to flatten out creases
on the skin dramatically.

| Frown
lines are the deep furrows and lines that appear between
our eyebrows, which are caused by overactive facial muscles.
These muscles permanently contract the brow, creating
a perpetual frown.
Frown lines are a concern for many of us, not only because
they make us look older, but also because they give others
a false impression of our moods by making us appear angry
or upset. Studies have shown BOTOX® Cosmetic to be effective in
reducing frown lines from 70%-80%. |

| Crow's
feet are the fine lines and wrinkles around our eyes.
They develop naturally as part of the aging process, but
sun exposure, and certain lifestyle habits such as smoking,
can make them worse. Years of smiling, laughing, and squinting
are largely to blame. Crow's feet can make you look tired
and add years to your appearance. When injected into the
cheek muscles however, BOTOX® Cosmetic can help diminish these fine
lines and wrinkles. |

| Having
a wrinkled brow might be a sign of wisdom, but it is also
a sign of worry and incipient age. Injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic into
contracted forehead muscles can smooth and straighten
the skin, and give you a more youthful appearance. |
Effects
Muscles
treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic usually start to relax within 1-3
days, and reach their maximum degree of relaxation within 1-4
weeks. However, it can take up to 7-10 days for the effects
to be apparent. About 3-4 months after the first treatment,
the effects of the treatment gradually start to wear off. Usually,
you will only need to have your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment done about 3-4 times a year. The more treatments that
you have, the longer interval between treatments is necessary.
